"I was invited to consider becoming a Trustee due to my previous experience in financial services, as a qualified counsellor and as a Trustee with other charities.  I really enjoy being part of a team which is striving for continuous improvement and professional excellence in areas where I have experience.  What Inspire does for people is potentially life changing and it is my hope that my contribution is beneficial in supporting those who Inspire is commited to helping.  I am motivated by the way Inspire endeavours to enable personal growth and change in people; I find this very rewarding and I am really happy to be part of such a team"

Adrian, Trustee

“I have been volunteering with Inspire for 11 years, having been introduced to their work at a promotional event.  I support the operational team as a Volunteer Receptionist and also act as Minutes Secretary to the Board of Trustees.  I am able to use my skills and experience to support the day to day and more strategic work of the charity; hopefully enabling the team members to do their jobs more easily.  I enjoy being a calming, welcoming and familiar face to clients as they arrive for their counselling sessions and recognise that this is an important part of my role.  I would encourage anyone who is thinking of volunteering to ‘just do it’; you will gain more than you give!”

Linda, Volunteer Receptionist

“I was invited to join Inspire as Treasurer whilst I was completing my accountancy training.  Through my involvement I have been able to contribute my experience and expertise to this worthwhile cause, and have been able to build on my own knowledge and skills in doing so.  I know that I am contributing to something much bigger than just providing financial information; I am helping the operational team and Trustees make strategic decisions about how to best use available funds and resources, in order that it can fulfil its mission.  I love being able to provide the insights and information which help steer the direction of the charity.  My role requires me to work effectively with different team members; I am aware that I am contributing to their individual professional growth and development too which is really encouraging and satisfying for me”.

Bondi, Treasurer

“My initial introduction to Inspire began when I attended a course on Listening Skills. This course really did ‘inspire’ me, and helped me to recognise the value of listening and being heard.  This then led me on to training to be a Counsellor, which is one of the best things I have ever done.  Not only did I learn so much about myself and others, but it has also enabled me to put all I have learned into action in the service of helping other people. Our world, and our lives can sometimes be complex and confusing; I feel it is a privilege to be able to come alongside someone and help them find their own way forward, in a non-judgmental and safe environment.  I believe that’s what we do at Inspire, and I am delighted and proud to be part of the team"

Ann, Counsellor
